Nobuyuki Tsujii – Elegy
Blind since birth, the 24-year-old Nobuyuki Tsujii (辻井伸行さん) was a joint gold medal winner at the 2009 Van Cliburn Competition. He debuted at the BBC Proms, giving a well-received performance with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. He made his New York recital debut in Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium in 2011, and is set to return for a performance of the Beethoven “Emperor” concerto with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra on January 25.
In his most moving piano performance, bursts into tears when he plays at Carnegie Hall his own composition “Elegy for the Victims of the Tsunami of March 11, 2011 in Japan”.
